Logging gives you a clear, searchable record of everything happening in your server — from moderation actions taken by your staff to members quietly leaving overnight. Prowl supports many distinct log types, each of which can be routed to its own dedicated channel so your records stay organized and easy to review.

Log Types

Prowl breaks server activity into categories, each serving a different purpose:

Moderation Log

Records all manual moderation actions: bans, kicks, warns, mutes, timeouts, and case notes. Each entry includes the acting moderator, the target member, and the reason provided.

AutoMod Log

Records actions taken automatically by Prowl’s AutoMod system — deleted messages, triggered filters, and auto-issued warnings.

Member Log

Records member join and leave events, including account creation date on joins and the member’s roles at the time of leaving.

Message Log

Records edited and deleted messages. Edit logs show the before and after content; delete logs show the original message and the channel.

Available Log Channels

Prowl lets you route each of the following event types to its own channel:

Setting a Log Channel

You assign a destination channel for each log type independently. This means your Member Join log can go to #member-log, your Message Delete log to #message-log, and so on — or you can route all of them to a single channel if you prefer simplicity.
1

Open the Dashboard

Go to Prowl Servers and select your server.
2

Navigate to Logging

Click Logging in the left sidebar under the Configuration section.
3

Select a Log Type

You’ll see a card for each log type. Click the channel dropdown for the log type you want to configure.
4

Choose a Channel

Select the destination channel from the dropdown. Prowl will immediately begin posting that category of log entries there.
5

Repeat for Each Type

Repeat steps 3–4 for each log type you want to enable, assigning channels as needed.
6

Save

Click Save Changes to apply your configuration.
Prowl must have Send Messages, Embed Links, and View Channel permissions in every channel you designate as a log channel. Without these, logs will silently fail to post.

Disabling Specific Log Types

You can disable any log type without affecting the others — simply remove the channel assignment for that type in the dashboard.
1

Open the Dashboard

Go to prowlbot.xyz and navigate to Logging.
2

Find the Log Type

Locate the card for the log type you want to disable.
3

Clear the Channel

Click the X next to the currently assigned channel to remove the assignment.
4

Save

Click Save Changes. Prowl will stop posting that category of logs immediately.

Best Practices

Create a Dedicated #logs Category

Create a private Discord category called Logs and put all your log channels inside it. Restrict the category to staff-only visibility.

Use One Channel Per Log Type

Routing all logs to a single channel gets overwhelming quickly. Separate channels make it easy to search only the log type you need.

Protect Log Channels

Deny Send Messages for all roles in your log channels — logs should be read-only. Prowl bypasses this restriction using its own bot permissions.

Review AutoMod Logs Regularly

AutoMod can occasionally catch false positives. Reviewing the AutoMod Log weekly helps you tune your filters.
